SEAM Meeting: Heavy Timber Connections

SEAM will be hosting a dinner seminar put on by Ben Brungraber of Fire Tower Engineered Timber of Providence, Rhode Island.

Learn about heavy timber connections. The presentation will include instruction on designing heavy timber connections, including wood pegged connections.

Learning objectives:
-Detailing and evaluating heavy timber joinery, including: notches, pegs, splines, and wedges
-Detailing heavy timber truss connections
-Avoiding mistakes in truss connections
-Using new, Euro-developed, fully-threaded screws to reinforce and repair connections and timbers.

This presentation will be Diamond Review Approved.

PRESENTER: Ben Brungraber, Ph.D., P.E. has his Master’s from Colorado State and Ph.D. from Stanford. He has served on the board of the Timber Framers Guild of North America. Ben has authored several papers Ben has been designing and building timber framed structures all of his life. He now heads up Fire Tower Engineered Timber of Providence Rhode Island which specializes in heavy timber construction.
