Structural Project Engineer – Andover, MA or Portland, ME

Who we are looking for:

We currently have an opening for a Structural Engineer with 4-10 years of municipal, industrial, and building experience in a consulting engineering design firm setting. We are looking for an engineer with a broad range of experience performing practical and efficient structural engineering designs using reinforced concrete, structural steel, masonry, wood framing systems, and all applicable building codes. The desired candidate shall bring a successful track record of design, inter-discipline coordination, deliverable management, specification writing, and construction administration. In addition to having excellent technical expertise, the candidate shall be a quick thinker and an independent problem solver who is accustomed to working closely with multi-discipline teams in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

What you will do at Woodard & Curran:

This position is part of the Structural Engineering Department, which is comprised of several structural engineers and CAD designers located at multiple offices nation-wide. The Structural Engineering Department is part of the Technical Delivery Group, which is a multi-discipline design center that serves the entire company and all geographies. Structural projects can range greatly in size, location, and complexity, while serving clients in the municipal, industrial, and design-build markets. The successful candidate shall have experience self-performing all aspects of structural engineering calculations, detailing, and drawing preparation. The candidate shall also have the experience, the leadership qualities, and the desire to mentor and manage junior staff as part of a cohesive structural delivery team.

What you will need to succeed! • Experience with the design and detailing of reinforced concrete, structural steel, masonry and wood framing systems. • Proficiency in structural steel and masonry building design. • Experience with proposal scope and budget development for structural projects. • Experience with condition assessments of existing buildings and structures. • Experience with shop drawing review and structural inspection during construction. • Experience with STAAD and/or other structural analysis software. • Competence with applicable building codes (IBC, IEBC, ACI, ASCE, AISC, NDS, OSHA, etc.). • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit. • Desire and ability to work as part of a structural team while coordinating with multiple disciplines and offices of Woodard & Curran. • Flexibility to travel to project sites throughout New England and across the country. • Exposure to water/wastewater design projects is a plus. • PE License in multiple states is a plus. Base Design Group continues to grow and is excited to offer the opportunity for a Senior Structural Engineer to join our team in Portland, Maine! Our firm provides comprehensive design and engineering services for commercial construction projects throughout the eastern U.S. with a focus on building design, foundation design for pre-engineered buildings, and cold formed steel framing design.

Ideal individual will be a motivated, growth orientated professional that possesses a strong attention to detail and is proficient in all aspects of commercial building design.
